Get involved with Career Services

We realize many of you are looking for ways to stay connected and contribute to CU. We have lots of opportunities in our office to get involved, especially in assisting students and alumni with their career exploration and job search. The following are some great ways to get connected with CU Boulder, students, and alumni.

Chat with a student or alum
Are you interested in assisting a CU-Boulder student or alum with his/her career path decisions? If so, please join our LinkedIn groups. You can also share your knowledge and professional expertise with other Buffs through our Ask a Buff program. With Ask a Buff, you fill out a short profile and students or alumni may contact you for career, relocation or graduate school advice.
Alumni and students use LinkedIn groups to network and chat with professionals in their fields of interest. Career Services has a LinkedIn group with 1,700-plus members comprised of CU students, alumni, staff and faculty. There are two Alumni Association groups on LinkedIn started by alumni: University of Colorado Alumni Association and University of Colorado, Boulder Networking Group. There are also a few alumni groups by discipline, including law and engineering.

Volunteer to be on a career panel
Career Services plans panels throughout the academic year to educate students and alumni about a variety of potential career options. Topics have included careers in writing, alternative health, human services, sports, criminal justice and homeland security. Participants enjoy hearing about panelists’ experiences. It is a great opportunity to learn about the rewards and challenges of specific careers, how to get a foot in the door and gain a potentially valuable contact in the industry. Please contact Ann Herrmann at Ann.Herrmann@colorado.edu or call 303-492-8020.

Hire a CU graduate
Wouldn’t it be nice to have more Buffs in your office? Encourage your organization to recruit at CU-Boulder. To learn more about posting a CU job or internship, please go to our Welcome Employer Homepage. Career Services offers many different ways to find your perfect new hire.

Donate clothing to “Suit Yourself”
Career Services collects gently worn business attire during the summer months, which we sell to students and alumni at low cost at the “Suit Yourself” clothing sale in the fall. Proceeds from the sale benefit the BOLD Center (formerly MEP) and the Multicultural Business Students Association. Men’s and women’s suits, jackets, pants, shirts, skirts, ties and handbags will be accepted at Career Services and all Art Cleaners stores in Boulder May through Sept. 15.
