CUBAA Privacy Statement
CUBAA Privacy Statement, as it may change from time to time, is a part of this Agreement and incorporated herein by this reference.
Information Collection
The most important function of the CUBAA is keeping alumni connected to the University of Colorado at Boulder and to each other. Consequently, the CUBAA compiles both public and private information about all alumni, both members and nonmembers. This notice is to inform you of how we use the information we collect and how you can limit that use.
The CUBAA collects information about CU-Boulder alumni from these sources (among others):
- Information you send us, whether through correspondence, membership applications and renewals, e-mail, surveys, website registrations, etc.
- Information we receive from our affiliates
- Information we receive from the CU Foundation, which is a matter of public record
- Our database is for the sole use of CUBAA. We do not sell, rent or trade alumni information with any organization that isn’t directly affiliated with us.
CUBAA Affiliates
CU and the CUBAA work closely with CU schools and colleges, regional alumni chapters and affinity alumni groups (e.g., the CU Black Alumni Club, Intercollegiate Athletics, etc.). We share information openly with these organizations.
The CUBAA has also formed relationships with companies to provide certain services to alumni and to generate revenue that helps finance some of the benefits and programs that the CUBAA provides. Before entering into a partnership with these companies, the CUBAA considers the business practices of the potential partners regarding the use of customer information. We have found our partners to be reputable, trustworthy organizations.
These companies communicate directly with our alumni to market products and services on behalf of CUBAA. For that purpose, we provide them a list of names and addresses, with a detailed contract governing the list’s use.
Opt-Out
If you do not wish to be contacted by these companies, notify us at the address below. We will remove your name from the mailing lists we provide them. Please be aware that mailings are often prepared several weeks in advance of shipping. We will try to get your name out of circulation as quickly as possible, but you may receive mailings for more than a month after requesting removal. Our site provides you the opportunity to opt out of receiving information from us and/or our affiliates.
To remove your information from our database, eliminate future communications or to no longer receive our services, you can select one of these options:
- Send email to optout@cualum.org
- Send mail to the following postal address:
University of Colorado at Boulder Alumni Association
Koenig Alumni Center
459 UCB
Boulder, CO 80309 - Call our office:
(800) 492-7743
(303) 492-8484
You may use these options to update or change your current contact information. You can also submit this information online via the Forever Buffs Network.
Types of Information Collected
We collect e-mail addresses when users submit them, either through an address update form, correspondence or by listing them on application or registration forms. We also on occasion hire services that specialize in researching lost or missing e-mail addresses for alumni (these services send notices to alumni with addresses in the public domain notifying alumni of our intent to add their e-mail address to our database).
CUBAA maintains a list of e-mail addresses so that we may keep interested alumni informed about CUBAA and CU events. Therefore, we share e-mail addresses with regional alumni chapters and the development office and we compile them for our electronic newsletter, BuffalumNotes. If you do not wish to receive BuffalumNotes or any other e-mail correspondence, you may opt out by sending an email to optout@cualum.org.
The CUBAA site also collects aggregate information about which pages alumni access or visit and any other information volunteered by a user, such as survey responses. This helps us evaluate and improve our site, and it is solely for use within the CUBAA.
CUBAA does not sell, or trade e-mail addresses or other electronic alumni information with any other organization for any reason.
Information Usage
We use contact data to send you information about CUBAA (Coloradan magazine, chapter event notices, newsletters, etc.) and promotional materials. Your contact information is also used to contact you when necessary. From time to time CU engages in telemarketing to raise funds. This is conducted through the CU Foundation or a vendor partner of CUBAA.
Accessibility Policy
CUBAA is committed to making our website accessible to all. Our website is being reviewed to verify that it is 508C Level One compliant.
Thank you for your understanding as we work to ensure disabled users have access to information that is comparable to the access available to others.
We strive to meet both state and federal laws including, but not limited to, the following:

Use of Information
CUBAA reserves the right, and you authorize CUBAA, to the use and assignment of all information regarding your use of this website and all information provided by you in any manner consistent with
CUBAA Privacy Statement.
General
You acknowledge and agree that these Terms of Use, together with CUBAA Privacy Statement, constitute the complete and exclusive agreement between you and CUBAA concerning your use of the website, and supersede and govern all prior proposals, agreements, or other communications.
Nothing contained in these Terms of Use shall be construed as creating any agency, partnership, or other form of joint enterprise between you and CUBAA. Our failure to require your performance of any provision hereof shall not affect the full right to require such performance at any time thereafter, nor shall our waiver of a breach of any provision hereof be taken or held to be a waiver of the provision itself. In the event that any provision of these Terms of Use shall be unenforceable or invalid under any applicable law or be so held by any applicable court decision, such unenforceability or invalidity shall not render these Terms of Use unenforceable or invalid as a whole. We will amend or replace such provision with one that is valid and enforceable and which achieves, to the extent possible, our original objectives and intent as reflected in the original provision.
