Enjoyed immensely. Got best friends from CU days and beyond to join us along with friends we were skiing with and just happened to be same timing. This is second event, CU v FSU in Tallahassee attended and quality and atmosphere equally great. Hope you do same timing and place next yr. Maybe better speaker system but facility tough to work with.

My father, George Beacom, was a gunner on the Colorado for five years during WWII. I have just found out about him and have his discharge papers, some pictures and other items. I was hoping to talk to someone who may know of him or have pictures of the gunners during the war. He had very red hair and his nickname was "Red". He received a medical discharge just short of his six-year enlistment term, went home to Souix City Iowa, married, had a son (whom I just met) and passed away of a heart attack at age 37.

Anything relevant would be much appreciated!

Your article recalled my days at CU - but the scenes and places you mentioned are different. There was no train in my days (1960s) but I guess there were homeless, probably not in the abundance as now. I was too busy, going from work to school (I started to work at 6:AM - finished my last course around 11PM - hurried to a fast food place to buy a hot dog and coke to eat & drink on my way home. Did this for 2-3 years. Enjoyed your article, thanks for writing. Joe
