No TV Saturday, Homecoming and Harris E-mail Updates

Greetings chapter leaders,

I want to remind everyone that the Buffs are not on TV this Saturday.  I think most of you savvy fans already know this.  It is Homecoming weekend so there’s a lot going on here in Boulder.  Check it all out here.

Read on for info about:
·         Buffalum Notes deadline
·         Make money for your chapter!
·         Harris email updates
o   New “friendly from” definition
o   Use the updated template

Buffalum Notes deadline

Get your entries to marc.killinger@colorado.edu by Oct. 29 to get in the November edition that will be sent on Nov. 8.  The December issue is a holiday card so feel free to send entries through the end of January.

Make money for your chapter by being a Forever Buff!

Encourage alumni in your chapter to buy a Buffalo Hat (http://buffalohat.net/) to enter our “Be a Forever Buff” video contest or to simply show their Buff pride.  When alumni purchase a hat from buffalohat.net make sure they go to the “add notes section” and enter their chapter name.  Buffalo Hat will track sales for each chapter and send them a check for 15% of all sales from their chapter through March.  The “add notes” section comes up after you hit “buy now” right before they confirm the order.  More information on the ‘Be a Forever Buff” video contest is at http://www.cualum.org/beaforeverbuff/.

Harris email updates – “Friendly From” and new templates

We have added a new Friendly From Definition to all chapter accounts in the format of “<Chapter Location> Buffs.”  You will now see this new Friendly From, in addition to any that you have already created, in Harris’ Email Marketing, Address & Assemble tab.  Friendly >From is the display name that appears to recipients of your e-mails from Harris.  Using this new Friendly From is optional but we encourage you to use it so recipients notice consistency in the emails they receive related to chapter communications.  E-mail Matt Duncan at matt.duncan@colorado.edu with any questions.

Remember that a new template is available for all chapters to use.  If you are not already using it, please do.  Just as with the Friendly From, having a consistent look and feel will make emails feel more comfortable to recipients, which will lead to increased read and response rates.  The template is in Harris’ Email Marketing, Create and Manage Content tab and will have a naming convention of “<chapterlocation>_Template_NEW.”  You can then just duplicate this template when creating new emails.  E-mail Matt Duncan at matt.duncan@colorado.edu with any questions.

That’s it for now.  As always, thanks for all you do to support CU and the Alumni Association.  I know there are some disappointed football fans out there right now so I thought I’d throw in a prize opportunity here to lift spirits and find out who actually reads all the way to the bottom!  The first five of you who reply with the exact elevation of Folsom Field in feet will receive a prize.  Remember, we are always Forever Buffs through thick and thin.
