PARKING
Parking Areas Majority of parking is located near Coors Events Center off of Regent Drive. Parking is free the morning of commencement, including meters. Euclid Auto Park (near the UMC) is a pay parking lot.
Arrival Time The stadium opens at 7:00 a.m. the morning of the ceremony and guest should be in their seats by 8:15 in order to see the procession. Early arrival guarantees best choice of seating.
Close-in Drop Off Drop off on Colorado Ave. in front of the stadium. Please arrive before 8:15am when the student procession takes place into the stadium.

Charge for Parking The only pay lot is Euclid Auto Park, all lots and regular meters on campus are free on commencement day.
DEPARTMENT EVENTS
University Ceremony vs. Department Ceremony The university commencement ceremony is the campus-wide ceremony at which students from all colleges are invited to participate. The Chancellor of the Boulder campus officially confers degrees upon graduating students at this ceremony. Department recognition ceremonies are celebrations of individual student achievement.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Hotel Accommodations The Boulder Convention and Visitors Bureau can provide information about local accommodations at http://bouldercoloradousa.com or 303-442-2911. The university does not hold blocks of rooms.
Web Cast The ceremony will be broadcast live via the Web starting at 8:30 a.m. (MST) at www.colorado.edu/commencement
Food Service Light refreshments will be available for sale at the Events Center during the ceremony.
Announcements Personalized announcements can be ordered through CB Announcements at 800-433-0296.
Stole of Gratitude The graduation stole is a great way to say thank you to that special person who gave you support and guidance throughout your college career. Graduation stoles are available at the CU Book Store in the UMC.
Grad Fair Grad Fair is CU’s official “one-stop” source for graduation information, services and products. The Spring 2010 Grad Fair will be held in the UMC Glenn Miller Ballroom on March 15th and 16th, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.. Sponsored by the CU Book Store.
CAPS & GOWNS (REGALIA)
Undergraduate Students
Purchase Regalia Undergraduate students are required to purchased regalia for the ceremony from the CU Book Store, open Mon-Thurs. 8a.m.-6p.m. Fri.8a.m.-5p.m. and Sat. 11a.m.-3p.m. The bookstore will also be open the morning of the ceremony at 7:30a.m.
Cost The cost of undergraduate regalia is $34.95. The regalia set includes a cap, gown, and degree tassel. A cap and tassel without a gown may be purchased separately for $19.95.

Graduate Students (Master’s, Doctoral/PhD, Law)
Regalia Rental Master’s, doctoral, and law students are required to rent academic regalia for the ceremony from the Balch Fieldhouse at the following times: Wednesday, May 5, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Thursday, May 6, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Friday, May 7, 7:00 – 8:30 a.m. (quantities limited)
Cost Fees for rental of masters regalia are $36.00 and fees for the rental of doctorial are $45.00 (includes tam). Rental fee must be paid with cash.
Regalia Return After the ceremony, rented regalia (master’s, doctoral, and law) must be returned to the Balch Fieldhouse by 3:00 p.m. on May 7th. Students may keep the tassel. Any regalia not returned by this time must be returned within three business days to the CU Book Store in the UMC along with the pink copy of your rental agreement. Students will be charged for the full replacement value if rental apparel is not returned within three business days.
Faculty and Marshals (volunteers)
Ordering Regalia The deadline for pre-ordering regalia is March 29. Additional regalia will be available during the distribution times at the Balch Fieldhouse. The Chancellor’s Office will pay for the cost of the rental. Please reserve regalia online at www.ecolorado.edu/commencement.

STUDENT INFORMATION
Number of Graduates Approximately 5,000 graduates
Program Listing Student names will appear in the program if they have completed and turned in all required graduation paperwork to the appropriate dean’s office by the set deadlines. Contact the appropriate dean’s office or the Registrar’s Office 303-492-7205 for information.
Confirming Graduation Status Contact the appropriate dean’s office or the Registrar’s Office 303-492-8969.
Failed a Class Students may still participate in the ceremony. However participation in the ceremony does not determine graduation status – that is confirmed by the school/college.
Change of Graduation Date Contact the appropriate dean’s office as soon as possible if plans for graduation change.
Diplomas Master’s and bachelor’s candidates graduating in May may pick up their diplomas from the Registrar’s Office, Regent 105, on July 7, 2010, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Picture ID required. Diplomas not picked up at this time will be mailed to the permanent address the university has on record for you, approximately two and a half months after official graduation. To ensure that you receive your diploma in the mail, update permanent address at Cuconnect.colorado.edu.
Diploma Covers Diploma covers will be distributed during most individual school or college recognition ceremonies. Students can also pick up a diploma cover at Regent 105 weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Honors Medals Undergraduate students receiving honors distinctions (honors, special honors, high honors, highest honors, distinction, high distinction) may pick up their honors medals at their dean’s office the week of graduation.
Latin honors medals for cum laude, magna cum laude, and summa sum laude are distributed at the Arts and Sciences Honors Program Convocation ceremony.
Please call the individual department for more information. It is customary for students to wear the medal with their graduation gown.
Student Seating Areas West side of field: Doctoral, Law, Architecture & Planning, Journalism, Engineering & Applied Science, and Arts & Sciences. East side of field: Master’s, Music, Business, and Arts & Sciences.

Line-Up and Procession (see map) Students line up in the Norlin Quadrangle by 7:45 a.m., wearing their academic regalia. Line up will be by school or college. The procession will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. Students will enter at the north end of the stadium field at gates 14 and 18.
Deposit Refund Enrollment deposit refunds, less any outstanding charges, will be mailed eight weeks after official graduation from the university. To ensure that the refund reaches without delay, update permanent address information on Cuconnect at cuconnect.colorado.edu. Contact Bursar’s Office at 303-492-5381 for more information.
Transcripts Official transcripts may be ordered through the Transcript Office by mail, fax or Cuconnect. Please visit the Office of the Registrar website at http://registrar.colorado.edu/students/transcripts.html for more information. Official transcripts with degrees recorded will be available after June 9, 2010 for May graduates. Contact Transcripts Office at 303-492-8987 for more information.

Ordering Regalia Those needing to rent academic regalia for the spring ceremony should fill out the online regalia order form by March 29. Regalia will be available for pick up at Balch Fieldhouse. The Chancellor’s Office will pay for the cost of the rental.

Procession Line-up (see map) Faculty should line-up and march at the front of the line with their school/college by 7:45 a.m. The procession will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m.
Procession Route (see map) The procession will arrive at the north end of the stadium. Faculty will separate from the procession and go into the Balch Fieldhouse and wait to join the procession of the platform party.
Ceremony Seating (see map) The faculty will sit in the North Stands during the ceremony.
Chancellor’s Brunch Faculty who attend the spring ceremony are invited to attend the Chancellor’s brunch immediately following the ceremony in the Folsom Club Level on the east side of the stadium. Elevator located across from gate 9.

Student Information Students receive all ceremony information via email starting approximately 6 weeks prior to the ceremony. The commencement web site (www.colorado.edu/commencement) is the most complete source for ceremony information.
Parent Information An information brochure is mailed approximately 6 weeks prior to the ceremony to the permanent address for each graduate.
