A case in point is Elizabeth (Maia) Andreasen (MBA’03), who initiated a conversation between her friend’s daughter, Alex Bak, who is attending CU this fall, and Tori Peglar (MJour’00), editor of the Coloradan magazine. Alex is interested in pursuing journalism as a career and the conversation resulted in her being hired as a student employee in the alumni communications department this fall. Alumni donate to CU in record numbersMore than 19,000 CU-Boulder alumni donated to the CU Foundation in support of CU-Boulder during the fiscal year that ended June 30 — 8.8 percent more than the prior year and the most in the university’s history. In all, donors contributed $52.4 million to the Boulder campus.

In his monthly column of all-things CU, Plati-’tudes, associate athletic director David Plati (Jour’82) takes a look at the subject among his usual this-n-that, including what Dan Hawkins really said that shot around the nation as “10 wins and no excuses.” The Buffalo Belles are a lively bunch!The Buffalo Belles will host 11 luncheons this fall at the Glenn Miller Ballroom in the UMC. Each luncheon will feature a football coach and a head coach from one of CU’s varsity sports programs. Proceeds from Buffalo Belles membership dues and luncheons go to the CU athletic department and CU student-athletes. Last year the Belles donated $19,241.72! Here’s more info. Theatre & Dance thriving this fallThe first Loft Theatre production of the season (Sept. 17-20) is The Blind, about “power & powerlessness, abandonment and horror and the precariousness of existence.” The first dance concert (Oct. 2-4) features MFA students Rachael Harding and Stephanie Kobes in “a collaborative work analyzing the relationship of the racial divide.” Here’s more.
