Dear Alum,

The students, nearly 30,000 strong, came back this week and were greeted by a good six inches of snow. Walking up to the Hill I jostled with lots of people, unlike the quiet of the last few weeks, and it felt like CU!

At the top of the news is that CU-Boulder has risen on the Peace Corps’ top 25 list of large schools producing volunteers. With 102 alumni currently serving we’re no. 2 in the 2009 rankings. Go here for the story.

Check out the alumni ID card item just below to learn how to get your ID and access many Alumni Association services. All alumni are eligible for this in our Forever Buffs program.

Please give some thought to writing an article for CU Voices, featuring your reminiscences about CU and thoughts about life. Send ideas to editor Marc Killinger. If you’ve moved or changed e-mail addresses, let us know. And don’t forget you can always find the latest CU happenings at www.cualum.org. Connect with other alums at the My CU Network. If you’re having trouble viewing this e-mail newsletter, you may view it online here.

Phi Kappa Tau fraternity lives on

Continuing a rich tradition, the fraternity brothers of Phi Kappa Tau, Psi Chapter, held their 50th anniversary reunion in Boulder and Broomfield Oct. 1-4, 2008. This unique group of fraternity brothers from the 1956-60 pledge classes has stayed in close contact over the last 50 years despite members living all over phi-kappa-taufrat-reuniointhe country. Beginning in the late 60s, they have met more than 20 times to watch the Buffs play and enjoy their CU and fraternity memories, mainly in Boulder. Last year’s reunion was the largest ever with nearly 50 people attending.

The chairman of this year’s event was Ken “Duals” Dulany (Fin’60, MBA’62). The Psi Chapter of Phi Kappa Tau is currently not active on campus, but they still own their house at 1150 College Ave. and plans are being made for the chapter to return to the Boulder campus soon. They hope to be back by the time of their next reunion in 2010.
